4. Anything in Life Worth Doing is Worth Overdoing. Moderation is for Cowards
Arguably my favorite line from the movie Lone Survivor. The meaning behind this is never give up, see everything to the end and take it further. This is something we should all aspire to do in life and business. We all are met with challenges and sometimes they seem insurmountable. However, if you are given the challenge (or if the challenge has found you) you need to knock it out of the park. Take it to 110%, see it through to the end and when it gets difficult don’t quit.
5. No Plan Survives First Contact with the Enemy
How many times have you laid out a proposal for a client and took care of all the loose ends, just to have them rework the whole thing the next week. We all have, it’s inevitable. The best way to deal with this is to be proactive. When we started out we had guidelines for our proposals. Our structure was based on creating a concrete map for our clients based on what they wanted. As we have progressed we discovered that maybe this is not the best way to cater to our clients. We have since created a slider system, shifting advertising assets and efforts to better meet the goal, based on the performance of tactics. For example, if blogs have not been generating any conversions the way they are, we could switch efforts and create a new Call-To-Action, in replace of blogs. This has helped us be more successful. There can be no arrogance or pride when it comes to dealing with problems. Accept that problems will arise and be willing to be proactive when dealing with them.
6. Have a Shared Sense of Purpose
Out of all of our SEAL Sayings That Will Motivate You, this one is pretty self-explanatory. You have to think of your company as a team, as a unit, you all have shared goals, you all share a purpose. Although responsibilities may fall on individuals, based on expertise or knowledge, that doesn’t mean that the whole team should not be involved. Although there are a lot of technical things that we do in our day-to-day involving programming and design, we all share input and offer to help with tasks that could be done in the meantime (just like we did for this SEAL Sayings That Will Motivate You blog). Also, if there is a division within the group address it before it becomes out of hand. Many times the butting of heads of strong minded people can be alleviated through communication (even though it may need to be initiated by an outside individual). Keep the team together and keep moving forward towards a common goal. I hope you enjoyed Part 2 of 3 in our SEAL Sayings That Will Motivate You series.
