Facebook Page Posts Now Feature Larger Images

 In Facebook, General

Social media is without a doubt one of the fastest and most effective ways of communicating a brand message.  One of the largest players in the social media platform landscape is also one of the oldest.  Facebook, being the social media giant that it is, constantly evolves and changes its platform in an effort to stay relevant. In its most recent update, images in Facebook page posts have been enlarged.  The reason behind this is simple.  Imagery that is more captivating increases the likelihood of engagement by users significantly.  This change isn’t a subtle one either.  All posts containing links will be four times larger on mobile devices and up to eight times larger on desktop computers.  Additionally, all aspect ratios will be increased in order to maintain high resolutions and minimize the loss in quality across devices. The changes made not only benefit users by giving them a more visually appealing social media site, but help community managers and social media gurus by saving them time for having to resize graphics.  As stated in an article by sprout social; sizes have changed.  They recommend the following guidelines be followed: “For the best display on high-resolution devices, use images that are 1200×630 pixels or greater. At the minimum, you should use images that are 600×315 pixels to display link page posts with larger images. Additionally, you should use images that have an aspect ratio of 1.91:1.  Try to keep your images as close to this aspect ratio as possible to avoid cropping in News Feed.” The new features of Facebook will be geared towards helping news sites, magazines, and social media blogs.  By utilizing this new feature, as well as others, you can maximize your reach and effectiveness.  For more tips visit Facebook’s official guide on increasing the distribution levels of your content.  For more information click here.
